She was known for being one of the most fashion forward women of her time, so it’s no wonder Katie Holmes is enjoying filming her role as Jackie Kennedy in a new TV mini-series. The 31-year-old actress had an extremely colourful day on set in Toronto, Canada, yesterday as she donned a red and black suit for scenes in the morning, before changing into a purple maternity coat to film scenes with co-star Greg Kinnear in the afternoon. Holmes has been shooting scenes for the miniseries since early June, and said recently she is thoroughly enjoying starring as someone as iconic as Kennedy – if only for the clothes she gets to wears. Among the outfits Katie has been wearing on set are the pale blue dress Kennedy wore when she was pregnant, and the iconic pink and black suit with pink pillarbox hat she wore the day her husband John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

Up and ready for a day full of work, Katie Holmes was spotted back on the set of “The Kennedys” on Monday (August 23). After stopping in the hair and makeup trailer, the “Mad Money” actress emerged with a long purple trench coat and black flats en route to where the day’s scenes were taking place.

Katie Holmes channels her inner Jackie Kennedy right down to her quilted Chanel bag in a shot taken today on the Toronto set of the History Channel’s miniseries, The Kennedys. Judging by the pink suit she is wearing in the pic, she and Greg Kinnear — who plays President Kennedy — were shooting the couple’s arrival in Dallas on November 22, 1963, the day the President was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.

Earlier this week, Katie shot the president’s funeral scenes and was seen hugging the toddler who plays young John Jr.

Katie Holmes has recreated one of the most heartbreaking moments in American history.

The actress filmed scenes as grieving widow Jackie Kennedy at the funeral of JFK while working on a mini-series about the presidential family.

The 31-year-old, who has spent the past month filming The Kennedys in Toronto, Canada, was dressed in a black shift dress, long leather gloves with the First Lady’s signature bob.

Katie Holmes was back in costume today to continue working on The Kennedys in Toronto. Instead of having Suri’s company between scenes, Katie shared the set with a young costar. Katie started filming the miniseries back in June, but shooting hasn’t slowed down her travel schedule — she’s been bouncing between Canada, New York, and LA. She talked about balancing her busy schedule with that of her husband, Tom Cruise, in her recent New York Magazine interview, in which she also spoke about the intense interest in their marriage and Suri’s love of fashion. Katie’s jet-setting won’t slow down in the run-up to the release of her movie The Romantics.

Katie Holmes plays former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in The History Channel’s upcoming miniseries The Kennedys — and the best part of the gig is the clothes.

“It’s been really fun! Her clothes were magnificent,”

Holmes told UsMagazine.com at Monday’s Manhattan premiere of her flick The Extra Man.

“I feel so lucky. We have these wonderful seamstresses who are creating beautiful dresses that are obviously replicas of real things she wore. Armani made two dresses for me to wear.”

And the 31-year-old wife to Tom Cruise and mom of Suri takes inspiration from the late icon for her own style, too.

“She not only had great style, but she [was] an artist [and] a writer. She was an illustrator. She was an editor,” Holmes told.

She added:

“Her great style was both appropriate for every event that she went to and also classic, and also things that were wearable. I feel really lucky to be playing her.”
